My Jeremy

All about my Jeremy. I will add pics asap but I will try to tell all of the many wonders of my husband. He is my hero and all that I have and all that I am that is good are his.

My Jeremy

How to pay written tribute to my man... He does rather defy being put into words but I will try. The number one Great Thing about Jeremy is his capacity to love steadfast. And I am a good one to test that with! I tried to run this guy off for most of the first year and, even though I could piss him off beyond the exploding point, there is never a moment that he doesn't want to kiss and make up. Never a moment that he doesn't want to be together, to share everything. Words like "I hate you!" "Go to Hell!" or put downs just don't come out of his mouth to the one he loves. Jeremy caters to my every wish without ever even appearing weak because it is so clear that it is his wish that I be cared for and happy. He is strong and soft. My mother said he had strong eyes like a lion and I often relate him to the king of the jungle. He definitely has the mane! And roars.

Jeremy was injured in a car accident when he was four that killed his father. He has two scars by his right eye, one shaped like a star and the other a perfect quarter moon. Then he fell through a cellar door, smashing his right temple, which left him epileptic and learning disabled. He has right brain function but little areas are damaged like he doesn't seem to have spatial awareness. The ability to back away and look at something or see consequences or remember sequence. Thus his inabillity to find his way around a town he has lived in most of his life. But put something tangible in his hands to figure out and he is your instant genius. He balances the learnig disability, overshadows it, with his desire to learn everything he can. He might not remember what he learns but he'll learn it again and again until it is a partof him if he wants to. Jeremy was told that he would likely "outgrow" the epilepsy but, sadly, that did not happen nad it will likely always be a part of his life. We use Tegretol and Marijuana to control his seisures, and one will not work without the other. He is also diagnosed as ADHD but has never been on meds for it (thank God!) and has learned to control and deal with it.

Jeremy and I teach each other how to live with our disabilities in a world that for the most part doesn't want to even see either of us and the harmony and joy we share are proof that we are correct in our belief that we deserve love, and respect. life and each other.

                                                                             Jessica

Jessi is my youngest and forever the baby although she now has her own. Jessi has always been the character of the bunch although it was a close kept family secret until she started sharing her wacky but sharp sense of humor with the world. Jessi will forever be our baby but I very much admire and rely on the incredible woman she is. She is an exotic beauty ans her website Hidden Treasure is on my links page and verifies everything I have said about her.

      My Sunflowers

My Granddaughters, Lindsey, Joey, Michelle,   Jessalynn, and Janise. Lindsey, 10, Joey, 3, and Michelle, 4 months, are Jami's. Jessalynn, 3, is Jessi's.  Jenise, 1, is Jeanette's.

I doubt I will have the pleasure of knowing any of my granddaughters like I do Lindsey. Lindsey and Jami lived with me off and on for her first six years during which she was my only granddaughter, much like my mother and Jami. Lindsey started things right by making me love being a grandmother. She is blond and green eyed like her mother, although she can look very Perton, but she is very much her own person. She was a huge bright part of the sunshine in Jami's home when I was there. Lindsey and I cuddled and whispered that secret language of a skipped generation until Jeremy was jealous and banging on the door to our secret world. I explained to her that Jeremy had to be let in and LIndsey gave Jeremy a puzzle game she had just bought and the three of us played it together making Jeremy a grandfather at the tender age of 27. But no one can enter the secret depths of Lindsey and Grandma. And that's how it is supposed to be.

Joey is in love with my man and has plans to steal him. I catch him cooing to her on the phone all of the time. She even calls him when her mother isn't home. If I take the phone and try to talk to her she just says "Jeremy" and I'm pretty sure her beauty alone is enough to turn his head. I think this granddaughter may be planning to phase me out but I still love her very, very much, so, Joey? Be kind.

Jessalynn Mae is half my namesake and the cutest little bundle that doesn't oogle my man and actually hugged me when I was there. Jeremy and I had two queen size beds in our hotel room and we pushed them together when Jessalynn visitted and she loved it and put on an acrobatic show that had all of us cheering. When one of her flips landed her in my lap she looked up at me with those incredible brown eyes and hugged me tight in her exuberance, flush with the success of her show, sharing her moment. Both of her parents posess an ability to burst with glee and this is doubled in this impish and loving little girl. Sunshine should be her middle name.

I am just getting to know Jenise and have just started getting hugs and kisses from her but she is a Mamma's baby! Jenise is a little Beauty we call Nici, pronounced NEESEE, who is the sweetest, most loving toddler I've ever known. She loves to give and get hugs and kisses, and has the most solid and stable life of all my granddaughters so far. We bonded in our first millisecond, locking eyes in  soul search that we will never forget.

I have only seen Michelle a few times, named Michelle Rose, the 'Rose' for 'Rhoda'.

I can't wait to have my own home where I can have all of my grandchildren together as often as possible!!!

UPDATE! My first grandson, Robert James Belk was born May 31, 2006. OH, and as I mention up above, Jeremy and I have that home. :-)

  My Beautiful Jami

My first born. Jami and I had five years together before the others were born and we went through the pleasure and pain of growing up together. She is now a beautiful and brilliant young woman, married to my godlike son-in-law, Mikey, and the mother of two of my little angels. I recently spent one of the best weeks of my life in her home and then she brought us back to Texas and I had two short days to share our home with her. It was like a dream and Mom was so present we could almost see her here smiling. I hope to add lots of pics here!!!

UPDATE!! 07-08-05

Jami became pregnant shortly after her visit to Texas. She had admited freely that she was using ICE on the trip, but said she was quitting when she called and said she was pregnant. I didn't know that she also had a three year addiction to Oxycontin going. Or the pull of Meth, and I only had a paranoid suspicion that she might be shooting up. She sent for us to come to Omaha when she went into labor. Michelle Rose Manning was born while we were on our way here, Mikey says the Rose is for me, :), but Michelle was born addicted and sick, this belongs in the thorns page I guess, and all three girls were removed and Jami evicted by Mikey from the home. I will say more about that in Thorns. Here I will say, that Jami is still a very bright star and I pray for her recovery. When she is clean, she is the sweetest and most loving and giving of my family and could still have a very bright future. I have joined online support groups for guidance, and pray for her every minute.

NOTE ON JAMI'S DAUGHTERS:

After the BOMB, Joey and Lindsey were placed in foster care, Michelle remained in the hospital for a few weeks and then went to a different foster home for addicted babies. Lindsey's father, John, rescued her from foster care the next day and took her to his home in California. Joey was allowed to return home to Mikey after five days, Michelle joined them a couple of weeks later, and both of them are thriving in his care. Michelle appears plump and healthy, the only sign of the drugs is a piercingly high cry that I have read is common in addicted babies. We pray for the best for all three of these beautiful girls and I have great faith in their parents.

My Beautiful Nette

My Netter has always been a mama's girl and was the sweetest little girl who took meticulous care of her little sister when they were just toddlers. All through her school years every teacher who encountered her was impressed enough to comment that Nett was the stuff the future needed to be made of.

UPDATE!! After too long apart I see and speak to Nette regularly now. She is now a VIP where she works and a great mommy. She still takes the caregiver role in the family and is often the rock we lean on. Beautiful, brainy, funny and wise, I take great pride in our Netter.

UPDATE! UPDATE!  UPDATE!

Jeanette and Robert Belk were married November 19,2005. It was a beautiful wedding. :-) I had the priviledge of giving away the bride (one of the biggest thrills of my life!!) and Christina was maid of honor, Jake was best man, and Jess and Jessalynn were the flower girls. Jeanette and Rob are also expecting another child, very likely a boy, my first grandson. We should know for sure at the next ultrasound.

                       Mikey

Here is one of the brightest spots in my life.  Yes, I was very disappointed in him during Jami and his drug years, but I now truly believe that a Phoenix can rise from the ashes. I have never seen anyone rise to an occasion like he has in becoming a single parent. After John took Lindsey, I told Mikey (none too gently) that I expected Joey and Michelle to have a fairytale life with him. And they do. He is doing better as a single parent than any two parents I have ever known. And it's not just his parenting that I love. He is simply one of the warmest, wittiest, brightest, humblest, hard working humans I know. He makes those around him want to be better people, and I love him dearly. This is our Mikey.
